Lost and found

Any of these look familiar? Some of your children lovely things are waiting to be reclaimed.Next time your in (May 7 for the Celebration of Learning walk through) please retrieve your child's lost items.

The Zoo

Listen to the children's voices! What they have to say is brilliant!

"Green is swamp"  "Some of the green is grass"
Educator - why are the dinosaurs in a different section? "The dinosaurs will eat them"

"These are the grass animals"  "These are the water animals" "Blue is water"  "This is a water park!"

The children built a zoo and water park. They used their personal experiences to relate to its creation.
Just some of the curriculum goal that was met here is recognizing places within their community and talk about their functions. Also, sort and classify groups of living things in their own way.

Let's go fly a kite!

Look at that beautiful blue sky! What a great day to fly a kite.
Our grade 8 peers where able to go out and learn how to fly kites with their teacher Mr. Holland. The entire FDK group was lucky enough to be invited to come see how it works.

There were 7 giant kites to watch. The children got to feel the pull of the string.
We discovered how strong the wind is. We witnessed how the kids had to work as s team to launch the kite, they ran together and then let it go!
It sparked a lot of inquiry about air flow and wind and much more.
What a great afternoon! Thanks grade 8's for sharing with us.

earth day

How did we help take care of our planet earth?
The children had a lot to say about the topic. They knew so much already. Your children are going to help change the world!!! Read all the brilliant things they had to say.

We read a book about different ways to help our environment

We practiced sorting paper, plastic and metal

We discovered we can recycle at home and school...and just about anywhere we go

We also talked about composting and donating
We learned what Recycling, Reusing and reducing means
This was a fun activity to talk about earth and what it looks like.
We wondered what all the blue was? It's water!!!!
We should turn off the tap while brushing our teeth so we can save the water.

The brown is the land. We need to recycle and pick up garbage to keep the land clean for the people and the animals.

And the green must be all the grass. We should grow more grass and trees and plants to keep our air clean.
Compost helps grow plants!
The white is the clouds, we need to keep the air clean.

The earth is in the dark. We can see the the shiny stars and moon.

This art experience was very fun. We coloured coffee filters the same colours we saw on the satellite picture of the earth, then we sprayed it with rain and waited to see what happened. The colours ran! When they dried, we put our earth in the dark universe and added stars and the moon.

Just a few captured moments of the events on Friday. The children had a great time walking the track and meeting up with some brothers and sisters! The parents who were able to volunteer their reading skills were so appreciated! The kids just love when you come to visit!

Best selfies ever!

Fun with technology!

Miss Massender is taking pictures of us, taking pictures of our selves. She captured our silliness.

I have never heard giggles like this before ;)
There were some full out belly laughs at themselves!
