Read and walk -a-thons

Just a few captured moments of the events on Friday. The children had a great time walking the track and meeting up with some brothers and sisters! The parents who were able to volunteer their reading skills were so appreciated! The kids just love when you come to visit!

In need of supplies...

Hello parents! 

We are in desperate need of a few supplies to get us through to the end of the year. We have gone through most of our supplies from September.

Here is a list of a few items:

White glue

Glue sticks

Wipes

Spoons

Straws

White board markers

Scotch tape

Scrap paper

Any donations would be appreciated. We are very busy at school and we go through supplies very quickly.

Can you guess what these 2 artists are doing? I showed the girls some pictures of the Sistine chapel painted by Michael Angelo. And here's what we came up with!

Great for fine motor. Great new concepts-learning new ways to create art,introduction to a great artist.

Milk and soap and food colour...what's going to happen?

I predict that..."we are making play dough" "we're making cupcakes" "we will mix colours" "I think we will make coloured water"

Reaction!!!!!... "HAAAAAAAA" "the colour exploded" "how did you do that" "they're mixing" "look how it moves" "Mrs. Long, you're magical"

What happened?... "When we put the milk in and then the colours and the pick with the soap on it, it mixed in. It made the colours go out"

"Can we mix them now?" "It's making new colours"

The boys just watched in amazement 

"It's a tornado" "the bubbles are following my toothpick" "if you look through the magnifying glass the bubbles look closer"

Blowing is another way to make the liquids move and mix.

Centers

Math concepts-we are identifying numbers and adding and subtracting!

Social /emotional- working together as a team to create a tower.

Math-patterning with different attributes

Literacy- we are writing a story. Using picture clues, sounding out words and finding words on the word wall to copy.

Fine motor- rolling play dough to form shapes. Also identifying shapes on the play dough mats. Estimating how much play dough they will need to fill a shape.
